How the broadband postcode check works

Enter the install postcode, choose the property, and read the predicted speed. The network is confirmed before anyone is booked.

The availability check is the start of a broadband order. It asks for the building where the engineer would install the line.

What you enter

Enter the UK postcode, then choose the property at that postcode. The result is for that address, not for the whole postcode.

Ofcom predicted speeds are shown as Basic, Superfast, or Ultrafast. A Broadbent plan is suggested that may match. Those labels are explained in what Ofcom predicted speeds mean.

What happens next

The suggestion is not a confirmed line. The network is still confirmed before install. Full fibre may be Openreach, CityFibre, or another network the checker finds.

If that product is not available, the team contacts you with alternatives. If the checker has no prediction, you can still start from the full fibre, Superfast, Standard, or leased line pages.

What the check does not do

It does not book an engineer, take payment, or promise a go-live date. Those come after you choose a plan and the wholesale partner confirms the appointment.

Questions

Does the check guarantee the speed?

No. Ofcom results are predicted speeds. The network is confirmed before install.

What if my property is not listed?

Choose the property the checker offers. If the product is not available once the network is confirmed, the team contacts you with alternatives.
